It is kind of shocking to me that this was 48 years ago. Almost half a century ago. It was considered the match of the century. I remember it being in the news. People wrote articles and books about it for years afterward.
It was also the year that I learned how to play chess. It is probably the reason why a couple of years later our teacher got us to play chess in school, and that event changed my life.
